COVID-19 Information

New regulations have been implemented that now allows for outdoor visiting at the Farrar Home. The following policies are now in place. Thank you for your cooperation as we navigate this difficult time.


SUBJECT: COVID-19 Cold Weather Visitation
PURPOSE: To provide a guideline for residents, staff members and visitors
to follow during cold weather visitation.
– To ensure residents, staff members and visitors comply with
COVID-19 precautions set forth by NYSDOH.
RATIONALE: To ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the Farrar
Home residents, staff and visitors is maintained during the COVID-19


Visitation Rationale
– All visits will be pre-scheduled
unless approved by
– To ensure proper staffing to
comply with DOH requirements.
During the cold weather, all visits will be completed on the front porch. Visitors will sit in the temporary enclosed front porch. The area will have proper ventilation. The residents will sit in the sitting room. The visit will be conducted with the window opened 18 inches. Social distance of 6 feet must be maintained at all times. -To ensure safety of residents and staff.
-To Comply with social distancing.
– All visits will be scheduled on
Mondays and Fridays from 9am to 11am & 1pm to 3pm.
– To ensure visitation does not
affect the in-home COVID-19
– All scheduled visits will be 15
minutes in length.
– To allow sufficient time for all
residents to have visitors.
– All visitors must be 18 years of
age or accompanied by an adult
18 years of age of older.
– To ensure all visitors are able to
give consent and answer
– A max of 2 visitors at one time
for each resident.
– To comply with social distancing
– The visitors will comply with
the following items at the time of
the visit:
- Comply with social distancing.
- Wear a mask at all times.
- Cleanse hands with hand sanitizer
before visit.
- Complete pre-visit health check.

– To ensure resident and staff

visitation requirements.

Procedure Rationale

– Visitation will be declined for
any visitor who:

- Refuses comply with the visitation
- Displays active s/s of COVID-19 or has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
- Has travelled internationally or to a state requiring quarantine per NYS regulation in the past 14 days.

– If any visitor fails to adhere to
the protocol will be prohibited
from visiting during the duration
of the COVID-19 state declared
public health emergency.

– During the health check, the
visitor will be given a “Visitor
Fact Sheet”. Please see attached.
– To ensure the visitors are
informed of NYSDOH adult
home visitation requirements.
– After each visit, the Farrar Home
employee will sanitize the 6 foot
tables, chairs and other areas in
the outdoor visitation with Oxivir
(EPA approved) disinfectant
wipes and allow the area to air
dry for 1 minute.

member is diagnosed with a
confirmed positive COVID-19
test all visits will be suspended

Department of Health regulations require that all visitors follow the guidelines below:

  • All visitors must use hand sanitizer when they arrive.
  • All visitors must complete the Visitor Health Check prior to the visit.
  • All visitors must wear a face mask during the entire visit.
  • Visitors and residents must maintain social distance procedures during the entire visit.

Friendly Reminders:

  • Please remember that the location for drop-off of supplies or various items is at the kitchen door.
  • Visits are by appointment only and are scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for 15 minutes from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please call ahead to schedule your visit.
  • Please remember if you are picking up a family member for an appointment to park in the parking lot, and then call us. We will bring your family member out to you.
