{"id":308,"date":"2012-07-24T01:20:07","date_gmt":"2012-07-24T01:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/farrarhome.org\/home\/?p=308"},"modified":"2013-01-26T01:43:18","modified_gmt":"2013-01-26T01:43:18","slug":"july-exercise-your-way-to-better-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/farrarhome.org\/home\/?p=308","title":{"rendered":"Exercise Your Way to Better Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 align=\"center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">AGING GRACEFULLY<\/span><\/h1>\n<h2 align=\"center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><i><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"what is the difference between light moderate and vigorous exercise\" href=\"http:\/\/www.everydayhealth.com\/fitness\/basics\/difference-between-exercise-and-physical-activity.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"everydayhealth\">Exercise<\/a> Your Way to <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Better Health\" href=\"http:\/\/getbetterhealth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Better Health<\/a><\/i><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/commons.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/File:Treadmills_at_gym.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"zemanta-img-inserted zemanta-img-configured aligncenter\" title=\"English: KUNSAN AIR BASE, South Korea\u2014 Airmen ...\" alt=\"English: KUNSAN AIR BASE, South Korea\u2014 Airmen ...\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/0\/0f\/Treadmills_at_gym.jpg\/300px-Treadmills_at_gym.jpg\" width=\"175\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Summer is off to a great start.\u00a0 It is a perfect time to begin an exercise program along with enjoying the weather outside.\u00a0 For the most part, exercise is a safe way to improve your mental and physical health at any age, but you must check with your doctor for any restrictions you may have.\u00a0 People with chronic illnesses can usually still exercise safely.<\/p>\n<p>We all know that exercise will benefit us in many ways.\u00a0 Staying active physically helps to keep your heart healthy and your muscles strong.\u00a0\u00a0 Recent studies have shown that in older cancer patients, exercise has been shown to ward off relapse.\u00a0 Exercise helps to maintain good health and may even prevent the onset of chronic diseases such as <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"heart disease\" href=\"http:\/\/www.everydayhealth.com\/heart-disease\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"everydayhealth\">heart disease<\/a>, osteoarthritis and dementia.\u00a0 Keeping active also improves blood pressure, diabetes and helps to <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"cholesterol levels\" href=\"http:\/\/www.everydayhealth.com\/heart-disease\/cholesterol\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"everydayhealth\">lower cholesterol<\/a> levels.<\/p>\n<p>As we grow older, bones become weak and brittle.\u00a0 Both men and women lose bone mass as they age. Broken hips are one of the major side effects.\u00a0 Bones respond to exercise much like muscles do.\u00a0 They grow stronger when force is put upon them.\u00a0 Additionally, with exercise, bone density improves and this will reduce the risk of osteoporosis.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Exercise is a prime example of preventative care, helping the older adults become better equipped to fight disease and infirmity while increasing strength and balance.<\/p>\n<p>2000 years ago the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, understood the necessity of keeping the body active and in shape throughout one\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>He stated, <i>\u201cAll parts of the body which have a function , if used in moderation and exercised in labors to which is accustomed, become thereby healthy and well developed, and age slowly;
